Shalimar Steel Re-rolling Mills (Pvt.) Limited is one of the pioneers in the steel industry, was established in 1958, headquartered in Lahore, Pakistan. SSRM is one of the most diversified manufacturing enterprises in Pakistan today. Shalimar Steels Mills re-engineered its activities, adopted a quality management system and obtained ISO certification in 2002.

This case study is about a major switch from a legacy system to a modern way of doing business through engagement and empowerment of the SMEs sector.  This case study also highlights as to how some serious government organizations and IT companies from the private sector are supporting the public sector to create a technology-oriented ecosystem where every small and medium enterprise feels herself an effective part of the mainstream. Being a highly socio supportive organization, Generix helped SMEDA in development of a highly successful accounting package called “SMAP” that is being now considered the backbone of SMEs business and a core source of data collection for SMEDA for its monitoring & control and future planning.
